The “Restore” is located in the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Facility, at 3620 Box Butte Avenue.  Items that are taken to the HHW facility that are in good, usable condition are then put into the “Restore” for anyone to come and take, free of charge.  This not only helps the patrons by not having to purchase these materials, but it also helps the HHW Program, cutting down on disposal costs.

The City of Kearney Sanitation Division has partnered with the Kearney Elks Lodge #984 with the creation of an Environmental Ambassadors Program.  This year, UNK’s Fraternity Pi Kappa Alpha has joined the Kearney Elks Lodge #984 volunteering to help Kearney’s Household Hazardous Waste Program extend the hours that the “Restore” is open to the public.  The “Restore” is open Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Friday 7:00 a.m.- noon. The Environmental Ambassadors program will add hours on the first and third Saturday of the month from 8 am to noon. These new hours will be in effect from April through October.
