[ARCHIVED] Jeff Barnes Presents Buffalo Bill’s Nebraska

Nebraska author Jeff Barnes presents Buffalo Bill’s Nebraska at Kearney Public Library, Tuesday, June 10 at 7:00 p.m. William F. Cody was born, raised, and died elsewhere but it was in Nebraska where he made his home and where the celebrity and legend of Buffalo Bill was born. What happened in the Cornhusker State to create a man who was arguably the world’s first “superstar”? Author Jeff Barnes tells the story of Cody in Nebraska, from his days as an Indian scout, as a hunting guide to the rich and famous, as the creator of “Buffalo Bill’s Wild West”, and his enduring legacy in the state, nation, and world today. Jeff will share his presentation of historic and contemporary photos and images.

A fifth-generation Nebraskan, Jeff Barnes is a former newspaper reporter and editor, trustee with the Nebraska State Historical Society, past chairman of the Nebraska Hall of Fame Commission, and former marketing director for the Durham Museum. He is the author of The Great Plains Guide to Buffalo Bill, Forts of the Northern Plains, and The Great Plains Guide to Custer. Humanities Nebraska (HN) provides major funding for this program. HN receives support from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Nebraska State Legislature, the Nebraska Cultural Endowment and private donations. Join us Tuesday, June 10 at 7:00 p.m. at the Kearney Public Library!
