The theme for 2021 revolves around the event's honorary chair, Marley Dias. She is the 16-year-old founder of #1000BlackGirlBooks and author of “Marley Dias Gets It Done: And So Can You!” #1000BlackGirlBooks is an international movement to collect and donate children’s books that feature Black girls as the lead character. The drive has collected over 13,000 books to date.

  4. Teen DIY: Colorful Jute Coasters

    You are going to absolutely LOVE these colorful jute coasters. Add a little pizazz to your room! We are offering both in-person and take-home sessions for this program — so choose the right option for you when you register. Limited to 25 participants age 12–18 per session. In-Person Session Details: All the supplies will be provided on-site and Shawna will have a live demonstration of the event. Virtual Session Details: The library will provide all of the needed supplies except for a glue gun and scissors. The supply packets will be available for pick up beginning at 9:00 am and the how-to video will be released at 6:30 pm on September 21. You can craft whenever you wish!

  6. Pub Quiz @ Cunningham's Journal

    Meet us in the upstairs area of Cunningham's Journal (15 W. 23rd St) and play our trivia game! Teams of one to six people will answer 30 trivia questions in one hour. The answers will be revealed in the second hour. Smartphones, devices, or handwritten notes will not be allowed to help answer questions. The team with the most correct answers wins a prize.

Fire Prevention Month is observed annually during the month of October. Firefighters will read a story about fire safety and demonstrate what they wear in a fire. Participants are encouraged to ask questions about fire safety or equipment. All ages. No registration.
