I have seen emergency vehicles driving with lights and sirens, and then just turn them off. Why is that?
Multiple emergency vehicles respond to the same emergency to ensure that enough personnel and equipment are available to handle the emergency. Many times after the emergency scene has been evaluated, they will cancel other responding units. Usually when you see emergency vehicles turn off their flashing emergency lights and sirens and turn around they are returning to their station.
