Street Tree Removal Grant Program

KPR LOGO Final-4

In response to the eventual loss of Ash trees due to the recently confirmed finding of the Emerald Ash Borer, the City of Kearney has established a Tree Removal Grant Program specifically for trees within the right-of-way.  The grant program applies to all Ash trees, and any other dead or dying street tree within 20 feet from the back of curb.    The grant program reimburses the property owner up to 50% of the cost of the removal, not to exceed $200 per each tree.  An application must first be completed by the property owner and returned to the Kearney Park and Recreation Department.  Applications and additional information are available at the KPR Office, 2005 1st Avenue, or can be found on the City of Kearney website under the Forestry tab.    Please contact the Kearney Park and Recreation Department at (308) 237-4644 for information about the grant, and email for specific questions related to the Emerald Ash Borer or trees.
