Overview
Below is a list of items accepted for recycling. Please note that labels can be left on all containers.
Newspaper/Mixed
Bag the following in plastic or paper sacks:
- Newspaper
- Magazines
- Envelopes
- Phone books
- Mixed office paper
- Junk mail
These items do not need to be separated in any way.
Glass Bottles/Jars
- Bagged separately in plastic bags
- Cleaned with water
- Remove plastic or metal lids
- No drinking or window glass
Tin/Aluminum
- Cleaned with water
- No need to bag separately
Plastic
Accepted plastics include:
- #1, #2, #4 and #5 plastic (Check bottom of container for #)
- Clean with water
- No need to bag separately
Film Plastic Bags
Plastic grocery and clothing store bags, bread sacks, and water softener bags. Place as many bags as possible inside of one plastic bag, tie the bag shut, and place into curbside container.
Cardboard
Cardboard boxes, cereal boxes, pop cartons, etc. Please flatten. No need to bag separately.
Oil and Lead-Acid Batteries
Items can be taken to the Recycling Center at 3007 E. 39th Street or the Public Works Building at 1919 15th Avenue, as well as any of the recycling items listed above.
Rechargeable Batteries and Cell Phones
Items can be taken to the Recycling Center at 3007 E. 39th Street or the Public Works Building at 1919 15th Avenue, as well as any of the recycling items listed above.
