Kearney Volunteer Fire Department has proudly served the City of Kearney and the Suburban Fire Protection District #1 of Buffalo and Kearney Counties since 1883.
The dedication of our volunteer firefighters enables us to respond to emergency situations with a greater number of well-trained men and women at any time of day or night.
As the largest volunteer fire department in the state of Nebraska, we provide fire protection and rescue service to an area of 272 square miles with a population of nearly 40,000 people.
In 2004 the Kearney Volunteer Fire Department received an ISO Rating of Two. The City maintained the rating in the 2014 Public Protection Classification Review.
