1. What is Lynda.com?
Lynda.com is a free online education service that is noted for its exceptional instructional videos. Lynda.com’s library contains 5,000+ courses and more than 200,000 fascinating, high quality video tutorials.
2. How do I get started?
To login to Lynda.com go to https://kpl.idm.oclc.org/login?url="http://iplogin.lynda.com
." If you’re not in the Library, you’ll be prompted to enter your library card number. If you don’t have a library card, please visit our Apply for a Library Card
page. Once you are at the Lynda.com login page, you will need to set up a profile which requires your name and e-mail address. You will also need to set up a user name and a 6 character password that contains a letter and a number.
3. What types of courses are available?
Courses cover a wide range of topics including:
- Software Development
- Web Design + Development
- Graphic Design
- 3D + Animation
- Audio + Music
- And so much more!
Included with courses are exercise files to help you practice. You can also choose your own Learning Path to focus on a particular career skillset.
4. What technical requirements are needed to access Lynda.com?
Lynda.com is available 24/7 on any computer or mobile device using a web browser. Lynda.com apps will not work with your complimentary library account.
5. Why am I getting a message “to try back later” when trying to login?
The Library is licensed for 20 simultaneous users. If all licenses are currently in use, you’ll see a message letting you know to try back again soon. Any users that are inactive for 30 minutes will be automatically logged off so others may use the service. (If you ever get logged off this way – don’t worry, Lynda will remember where you left off, helping make getting started again easier.)
