  4. Brown Bag Series: Dr. Nathan Tye

    You are invited to the continuing "Brown Bag" series, hosted by the library, in partnership with the UNK History Department and History Nebraska. Feel free to bring your lunch with you. Snacks and beverages are provided. Dr. Nathan Tye will be presenting "Confronting the 'Annual Plague of Hobos:' The History of Transient Labor in Nebraska, 1870–1930." His research documents the fascinating but misunderstood lives of hobos, tramps, and other transient workers that traveled across the West and Midwest by hopping trains from the 1870s-1930s. Dr. Tye is an assistant professor at UNK and was born and raised in Kearney, Nebraska. He holds a B.A. from Creighton University and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Tye specializes in Nebraska History, the history of the American West and Midwest, Labor History, Gender and Sexuality, as well as Digital and Public History.
