  1. Elf on a Library Shelf

    Each day beginning Monday, December 10 and ending Sunday, December 16, youth are invited to come to the Library and find the Elf on a Library Shelf! The Elf will be hiding somewhere different each day in our Children’s Area, and will be reading a book. Use an entry form from the Children’s Area to list where the elf is hiding and what he is reading. You will have the chance to win one of our Elf prizes. One entry, per day, per child.

  2. Preschool Storytime

    Hearing stories is a great way to help children develop a love of language, books, and learning. These stories are hand-picked for ages 3-6. Parents need not attend, but please stay in the building.

    Looking for something to do over Winter Break? Try our Winter Reading Challenge. Complete five of the activities for a chance to win one of ten $20 Buffalo Buck prizes. Buffalo Bucks may be used like a gift card at any business in Kearney. Chill Out and Read! forms will be available in the Youth and Teen Departments from December 15 through January 15 . Deadline to return the entry form is by 9:00 p.m. on January 15. For youth ages 0 - 18.

    If you love digging into your ancestral past, this is the study hall for you! Use the library's resources to help you in your quest and spend time with other like-minded people. This won't be a class to teach you what to do, but volunteers from the Buffalo County Historical Society and library staff will be there to give assistance when it's needed. So, if you enjoy delving into your ancestry, but haven't been finding time to work on it - come search with us!
